Open Access, Behaviour Analytic Videos


WiseBytes was developed in 2019 by Jo Coulson and Paul Shanahan. It currently offers open access online behaviour analytic content for behaviour analysts to maintain their certification.

Jo Coulson studied a BSc Psychology and Sociology by winning a scholarship to attend university. During her degree she had lectures on Applied behaviour Analysis which piques her interest in the science. Following this Jo completed a Masters in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at the Tizard centre in 2006, which lead to Jo working for a leading autism charity as a behaviour specialist. She worked her way up to be National Lead for the behaviour support team. Jo’s interest in Applied Behaviour Analysis developed further during that time and in 2013 she became a BCBA following completion of the online programme from University of North Texas.
In 2016 Jo moved to work for Dimensions as a Senior behaviour Consultant. Alongside her work, Jo set up Supporting Positively in 2016 to work as an independent BCBA covering the south east region of England, providing specialist input to families, services and organisations for the implementation of PBS. Since June 2019 Jo has been working full time as an independent BCBA. Jo chairs the PBS Special Interest Group for the UK Society of Behaviour Analysis and regularly presents at the Applied Behaviour Analysis Forum in regards to ethical practice and providing supervision.

Paul Shanahan started off by completing a degree in Applied Psychology from University College Cork, followed by a Masters in Health Psychology from Surrey University. After this Paul started working with adults with intellectual disabilities where he found an interest in ABA. Paul then completed the Florida Institute of Technology online program and in 2015 became Board Certified. 
For the past three and a half years, Paul has been working as a behaviour analyst for Your Healthcare, a Community Interest Company commissioned by the NHS to provide services across Kingston and Richmond. Paul has recently started a secondment role as a specialist advisor for CQC in PBS.
Alongside his work, Paul is a Post Graduate Researcher at Surrey University studying sleep difficulties experienced by adults with an intellectual disability and has recently published in the Journal of Intellectual Disability Research. Paul is involved in research focusing on service user experience of transition to adult services funded by Health Education England. Paul is a peer reviewer for the Cochrane Schizophrenia Group.
